i think that his 3rd rule for cash games is to never buy in for more than 5% of his bankroll and leave the table when he's reached 10% (when the blinds reach him again...), no?

All comments are appreciated, but I do not neccessarily need to agree with them.

Lex, you said,"If someone whinges and moans and complains about “donks” its a sign of a bad player". I think this comment is a bit harsh. Not on me personally, but on poker itself.

My finances dictate that I have to play the lower limit tables, where it is generally a donkfest. At the table I can pick out the donks very quickly and normally I will capitalise on them. But poker is such a saturated game now that I'm finding for every donk you take out there's another at the table waiting to gamble with nothing.

I will ALWAYS complain about donks, but I don't consider myself a bad player. And I'm sure some of those who know me would agree that I'm quite good. But I know I still have a lot to learn.

As my main post suggests, I have come a long way in correcting some of the errors in my game, to which I freely admit is more of my problem than that of the donks. But in saying that, virtually every time I went out it WAS to a bad beat. It's the hands prior to the all-ins I have to work on.

You are not going to like what I am going to say but I don't sugar coat things. If someone whinges and moans and complains about "donks" its a sign of a bad player, it really does sound like you are making excuses for losing.

Accounting for beginners and wild players should be a part of your overall game, so you should consider this before you go all in. It doesn't make it any less infuriating when your premium pair gets knocked out by K8 off suite, but I'd rather get knocked out by a bad beat than get knocked out by making a mistake.

Well, Goph, we did and do try telling you about this but you are right, we were probably doing it at the wrong time.
I enjoy having a few beers now and then whilst playing with the Skpe crew. However, I think I "turn down" my expectations in winning during this time. I am playing more to have fun than anything so I don't watch the board or others players as close, etc.
But, if I am playing serious, there is a lot less drinking, no music or distractions and I concentrate much harder. I sit here and watch every hand, keep my eyes on every player and I am much more successful.
It's good to see you being introspective. Your game can only improve if you do this and honestly evaluate yourself.
Welcome back!!!

I had a video game take me out of poker for a while as well. Halo was my drug of choice.

When I was ready to jump back into poker I did it hard. Higher stakes then I left off with and playing a bunch of games in a row. I didn't go bankrupt, but I did lose some. I just wasn't in the poker mindset yet.

Taking your time t ease back into it is the way to go.

Alright. I got it now. I don't blog much...

"The Mojo Hand"

Way don yonder in Nawleans,(New Orleans, Louisiana. U.S.A.). There originated a sub-culture known as the Mulattos. Half Creole, Half Black, Half White, mostly French, Cherokee, and some other. The ones I've met, the men folk, called thems selves Coon Asses. Usually followed by mutherfucker. In polite company they would say Creole. The few I ever met claimed mostly French heritage a little black and a little caucasion,(white). They lived in the Bayou.

The Bayou just made the news again a year or two back in the form of Hurricane Katrina. Same place. Same VooDoo. Black Magic. Heard about it all my life and came across my own version of Marie Lavou back in High School in a dark part of our town (circa, late 1960's). She's about ninety years old and took a liken to me one night when I was out drinking and carousing around town with my black friends. So, I had her concot me a genuine , "Mojo Hand." Since then I've used numerous charms and spells, depending on the situation. Never failed me yet.

My descendency dates back to a John Burns in Scotland int he 1600's. We are supposedly descendent from the Scotts-Irish. Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone. Pops family is German. The familys fought on the opposite side of the Civil War. Grandma on my Mothers side told me about her grandmother, a Cheroke woman, who was part Creole. My Cousins still know some of the ancient chants, celtic and cherokee. From the cherokee we got the stores of the voodoo. Quite a stretch but someone said you asked. Now-a-days, it comes in handy as a Private Investigator. I've been doing it for about fifteen years here in Los Angeles, California and you wouldn't believe me if I told you some of the cases that have been resolved through those means.

My "Mojo Hand" is in a green felt bag with a yellow ribbon tying it shut. The bag is just under a fistful. You can hold it in your hand and conceal it but just barely. It has a small crystal, a green lodestone, a black cat bone, gold attracting powder, and finally, -no mojo hand is complete with out it, the great and all powerful, "High John The Conquer Root". This combination, plus one or two other esoteric fetishes, that I have forgotten, plus the proper incantations over a properly constructed alter at the right position of the moon and the stars has yielded me more wealth than I could ever have imagined. My Mojo has been very very good to me. I have been faithful and have kept the mojo bag closed. None of it's power has dissipated even after all these years.

I just have to be careful how I use my Mojo.
